Why Shave Below the Neck

zola.nemorinBlog, Male Skin Care

We guys all shave our face or give our beards the maintenance it deserves. A lot of mornings are spent making sure our facial hair appearance is acceptable. We often take pride in our shaving & beard maintaining routines. It’s almost relaxing but, what about shaving below the neck? Should you be shaving below the neck as well?

Why Shave Below the Neck

I’m talking about shaving almost everything below the neck. It’s called manscaping and it’s about more than what’s below the belt. To clear up the real meaning of manscaping it’s “shaving ones body hair for cosmetic effect”.

This means your chest, stomach, armpits, and yes even the area most associate with the topic. It doesn’t mean you’re shaving it all off either. If you like to trim your chest hair or shave your back bare then you’ve been a participant in manscaping.

A reason you should consider adding this to your shaving routine is because it’s no longer the men with the very hairy chests that represent masculinity. Today’s culture really appreciates those who take time and pride to manage their body hair. We’re no longer letting it all hang out like we were in the 80’s.

The Benefits

There are several benefits to trimming or shaving your body hair. Most of which people haven’t considered. Most only think of what it’ll look like after shaving but, there’s really more to it than that.

You’re going to retain less sweat. The less body hair you have the less sweat will get trapped on the hairs. When you sweat a lot you hairs will cause you to begin to smell bad. This is directly a result of the body hairs holding onto the sweat. Not as big of an issue for those who manscape.

You’re gong to be more confident. Especially for those who shave their pubic region. You can appear an additional 2″ inches larger. Not only that but studies show you begin to have a higher self-esteem which results in more positive energy.

It can be a huge positive influence in your relationship. Women love a guy who manscapes but, I recommended talking it over with your better half to see if they agree. Some women like trimmed and some like bare so it doesn’t hurt to bring it up in discussion one day.

Where to begin?

There are a couple tools you’ll need to get started. Fortunately you most likely have everything except the body groomer. Other tools you’ll need are a disposable razor, favorite shaving cream, and a hand soap.

The key thing to know is to just shave with patience. Taking your time will save you from adding on any unwanted skin irritation or accidental nicks and cuts. When using shaving cream on the body you want to only apply a very thin layer. Adding to much only makes it harder to shave.

We mentioned earlier you’ll need a good hand soap. Well it’s not for washing your hands. We recommend using hand soap for your privates. The skin in this area is tougher than you think. A thin layer have hand soap is the perfect lather and shaving condition you’ll need here.

Always remember when shaving to pull the skin slightly so it’s taut. You want to pull only enough to have a nice flat surface to shave on. I know this sounds familiar to shaving your face and that’s because it is. It’s a best shaving practice that works great for body shaving as well.

The #1 thing you’re going to need is that body groomer I linked above. A good body groomer is going to make this job much faster and much easier. I recommend one with a foil shaver on one end and a adjustable guarded shave on the other.

Conclusion

Getting started with shaving below the neck is easy. The only hurdle will be getting a body groomer but, you can pick one up for pretty cheap. The benefits of shaving below the neck are tremendous. It’s a activity you should give heavy consideration to adding to your shaving routine.
