What is the difference between Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin?

I often get a lot of questions from patients, asking: “What is the difference between Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin?”

Here is my answer:

Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are all injectable neuromodulators, meaning they can temporarily alter the nerve impulses of targeted muscles, therefore reducing or eliminating wrinkles and/or fine lines.

Each brand has a slightly different formulation of the same substance, bacterium Clostridium Botulinum, or Botulinum Toxin A, but they all work the same way: they block the nerve impulses of the injected muscles to temporarily paralyze muscle movements that cause wrinkles. They are also used to reduce nasal lines, lines around the neck, eyebrow lifting, and even help with underarm sweating and migraines.

They are all very similar, all though Xeomin, which is also called, organic botox, has less preservatives in it.

By reducing the intensity and frequency of wrinkles, these treatments also prevent the formation of deeper lines in the long run, making them an increasingly popular anti-aging treatment; that is both preventative and restorative.

There is no big difference between them, it just depends on your shopping preference: Whole Foods, Publix, or Kroger.
